. . . Is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation
and promotion of Imperial Swing Dancing serving the Metro,
St. Louis, Missouri area.
. . . Imperial Swing Dancing was first developed at a local St.
Louis nightclub called 'Club Imperial' and has been said to be
a refined version of the Jitterbug.  It evolved into a combination
of East Coast steps with West Coast swing moves danced in
the slot that includes wraps and spins.

-- DANCE FLOOR ETIQUETTE REMINDER --

The dance floor at Concord gets a bit crowded but by remembering
just 4 things we can dance a little easier...

  1. Dance in slot. The floor at Concord is wood so the slot goes the same direction as the
floor boards. Not sure what slot is? Ask any of the instructors or board members and
    they will explain.
  2. Occupy space on the dance floor only when dancing. We all love to talk to fellow
dancers but please move off the dance floor to have your conversation.
  3. Go around the edge of the floor when trying to reach the other side. Lately
we've noticed some people cutting through the center of the floor during a song to get to
the other side. Please be courteous to the other dancers.
  4. Place your drinks on the tables, not the floor! It's crowded and drinks sitting on the
floor or the step are easily knocked over. Dance shoes have suede bottoms and once
they are wet it makes it difficult to dance and easy to twist an ankle.
